I recently noticed and fell in love with the work of New York- based artist Hein Koh on Pinterest and it really inspired me to have a go at burning paper. I used a soldering iron to burn holes into paper, and going back to my interest in plants, these holes could represent seeds or the holes within seed pods or seed heads. I hung the paper from a washing line whilst burning as I found this to be the safest method for this process. I really love this technique of mark making, next time I might try it on stretched canvas or on a painting or print.
