Spawn

Trying a few new techniques with the monoprinting…adding objects, string etc to mask off areas of the paper with each print. I always remember gathering frog and toad spawn as a child and watching it grow in a glass jar. The piece on the left is entitled “Spawn” because the cluster of the candy pink ink represents the mass of frog spawn which we would fish out of ponds, and the stringy sinewy lines are similar to the strings of toad spawn which we would also hunt for. As with all my printmaking, only the finest linseed oil relief printmaking ink from Lawrence Art Supplies is used, I find the quality of these inks is second to none.
