Lotus was one of my most recent pieces which was inspired by a visit to the Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh where I saw some examples of lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera) which were fading. I wrote some Haiku inspired by the lotus that I saw;
Risen from the depths
Withered petals revealing
Seeds of life within
and decided to later make a piece of work also. The piece was rendered using ink, watercolour and other additives, and the intent was to create a watery abstract, suggesting merely a hint of the subject matter, allowing the viewer to read into it what they will.
