I came across the Transition and Influence Contemporary textile Artists web gallery, which was curated by Lesley Millar, Professor of Textile Culture, and the Director ofAnglo Japanese Textile Research Centre at the University for the Creative Arts. It was in this virtual gallery that I saw the work of Kaori Umeda. I can’t find much info about her on the web, but will keep looking. Meanwhile I am in awe of her work!
She uses polymer thread and probably some sort of starch to keep it firmly in place. Its definitely something I would like to try.
